Mr. Craig Loehle
Principal Scientist
National Council for Air and Stream Improvement

Craig Loehle, Ph.D., is principal scientist at the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement, where he conducts computer modeling of forest growth and global climate change research. He worked in the Environmental Research Division at Argonne National Laboratory 1991-1998, and was a Research Ecologist at Savannah River Laboratory from 1987-1991. He has written more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in forestry, ecology, geophysics, modeling, and other fields. In articles published in Energy and Environment in 2007 and 2008, Loehle presented a new 2000-year global temperature reconstruction based on non-tree-ring proxies, a major improvement to the Mann et al. so-called "hockey stick" diagram. He is a member of the Ecological Society of America, Society of American Foresters, and International Society for Ecological Modeling. He received a B.S. in forest science from the University of Georgia, a M.S. in forest management from the University of Washington, and a Ph.D. in range management (mathematical ecology) from Colorado State University.
